I went to Rasa Ria to see the Orang-utans in April and it was amazing! You will have a fantastic time :)

No you don’t need to stay there, but you do need to book in advance. If you’re not staying there, they do have a shuttle that runs from downtown KK to the Shangri La Rasa Ria and back, which makes it a lot cheaper than taking a cab. I can’t remember the cost, but when you call to make a reservation you can ask.

Do you need to stay at the Shangri la to go to the nature reserve?

The easiest is probably to call the resort, and get them to transfer you to someone at the Nature Reserve, the hotel number is (60 88) 792 888. Alternatively you could try emailing the hotel as well: rrr@shangri-la.com.

I’m looking into going to the The Nature Reserve at Rasa Ria to see the orang-Utans but i’m having trouble trying to make reservations. Is there a number or a website where I can make the reservation. Thanks in advance

Wow, what a cool place! I just stumbled upon your site and I’m so glad I did. I’m leaving in a few months and trying to find some cool things to do. The Elephant Sanctuary was already on my list but now I can add this place as well. Thanks! Beth
